How long before PR people have no daily print media to pitch?

Personally I think we are decades away from the complete death of the daily newspaper in the paper format. Not least because of the large number of commuters that quite like having something to swat their fellow travelers with. However, today's news that the LA Times has followed the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal in making significant layoffs does to me at least signal how close we are getting to the end of the daily paper as we know it.

the question isn't how long people will want to read newspapers. the question is how long will newspapers stay in business with all of their ad and classified revenues going to on-line sources.

the idea that newspapers will be gone because of blogging is absolutely nuts!

Blogs are just another outlet, they don't threaten the primacy of print.

Not everyone lives in Silicon valley the majority of consumers just aren't as wired as folks around here would like to believe.

the PR industry needs a reality check on blogs

ps.. the challenge newspapers are facing is craigslist and the the recent surge in online advertising..
